Most modern pads have some degree of waterproofing (and sealing of any porosity - apart from kangaroo pads). When badly done it is sticky; when well done it is not stick, and it is very successful. There is a seemingly endless variety of new, high-quality, expertly manufactured mouthpieces from which to choose.Sax players will notice that they have to listen to the monitor mix at a slightly higher level than rhythm players. The reason is simple. When you play the horn it resonates in your head, therefore you'll have to turn up a bit to hear the mix above the natural resonation.
